1. First on my list, for the big and little kids in your life, are these reusable snowballs designed by Banana Moon Studio. Why not host a snowball fight?! Enjoy a fun and indoor-safe activity with your friends and family, that bypasses the need for actual snow (I can’t remember when we last had that here in the UK). Just be sure to put those mugs of hot chocolate somewhere safe first lol.

2. After something more practical? Why not try out the our very own Caitlin Zigzag Scarf! This filet scarf crochet pattern is a simple yet elegant design that can easily be tailored to your exact preferences. It’s so each to change the size, colour, yarn weight, embellishments etc. and is the perfect size to stuff into a Christmas stocking :)

3. Need something to put all of your wonderful handmade Christmas gifts in? Why not ditch the wrapping paper and instead crochet a reusable gift bag! This particular design from Green Fox Farm Designs is both functional and beautiful…..and all of the those glowing reviews can’t be wrong!

4. If it’s freezing cold where you are, and you’re feeling the ‘cost of living’ crunch, why not try making some fingerless gloves. This beginner friendly pattern from My Crochet Space works up beautifully and will be sure to keep your loved ones warm when the cold begins to set in.

5. So, you’ve got something to keep your hands and neck warm, now for your ears! Check out our Twisted Trio Ear Warmers! The toughtest part about making these ear warmers will be deciding whether to crochet a plain one or to select one of the six available motifs (small and large rainbows, hearts and zigzags). Many of my daughter’s classmates have received these as birthday gifts recently.

6. Looking to crochet a cute basket? This heart-shaped basket by Hooked on Patterns is a wonderful place to store all of those little things that you don’t want to lose, and the shape literally represents the love that you are crocheting into every stitch. I’m thinking of making one for myself to hold our Christmas chocolate truffles (a special occasion treat and tradition in our household lol).

7. Still not found your inspiration? Why not try out this moss stitch mug rug from Jo to the World. This pattern can easily be made by even the newest beginner, as it only requires knowledge of the chain and single crochet stitches! It can also be made larger to create matching placements for your Christmas table. I think that this pattern would look particularly good in variegated yarn :)

8. Trying to be more green this Christmas? These beautiful crochet market bags by Green Fox Farm Designs are reusable and could easily be made from scraps or sustainable fibre yarns. You could both reduce the amount of plastic going to landfil and these are far less likely to break. Why not give them a go!

9. Not a fan of scarves? Why not crochet a cowl instead. This beginner friendly pattern from Desert Blossom Crafts is made using chunky yarn, so works up nice and quickly! Don’t you just love how the variegated yarn brings this pattern to life. Your neck need not be cold this Christmas :)

10. Alternatively, why not put together a handmade pamper kit? These beautiful face scrubbies and basket from Change Path Crochet would make a lovely addition to any pamper hamper. You could add a colour coordinating soap saver and/or shower puff, along with some locally made pamper products, and maybe a refreshingly scented candle. Who doesn’t want to feel like a pampered goddess?

11. Scrunchies! Need I say more? Scrunchies can be made rapidly, work well in every colour, and are a great scrap-busting project. This pattern by Selina Veronique is a lovely example of what beautiful things you can create even when you’re in a hurry.

12. Last but by no means least is another practical pattern, this time from Desert Blossom Crafts. I elected to finish with another practical pattern as i’m keen to try and affordably reduce the carbon footprint of my home. These dish scrubbies are perfect for everyday use and will help to reduce the amount of plastic we sent to landfil. For bonus points, if you use the recommended yarn it is machine washable and dryable - an essential trait if you have mini mud-monsters constantly generating filth!.

I hope that you manage to find enough inspiration here to complete your remaining Christmas gifts in plenty of time….now you can sit back, relax and enjoy some self-care crochet time! If you would like a crochet-related (non-pattern) gift for yourself too, feel free to check out our suggestions here - because you deserve to be treated too!

Merry Christmas :)
