The Slalom Square – Crochet Pattern

There's nothing quite like the feeling of completing a handmade project, and when it comes to crochet, the satisfaction of finishing a beautiful crocheted blanket is hard to beat. If you're looking for a new challenge to take on, look no further than the Slalom Square crochet pattern. Imagine the sense of pride and joy you'll feel as you snuggle up under a blanket made from this square (and more) - start crocheting today and bring that vision to life!

The Slalom Square is inspired by the zigzagging path that skiers take when coming down a mountain. With its eye-catching zigzag motif, this square will add a dynamic touch to your blanket. The pattern requires only a 4mm crochet hook, double knitting weight yarn, basic crochet stitches like single crochet, double crochet, slip stitch, and the slightly trickier front post treble crochet - an ideal stepping stone to grow your crochet skills. And best of all, it's fun to make!

This square is just one of those featured within the ‘Here Comes Treble Blanket' blog hop hosted by Simply Melanie Jane. For those of you who don't know, this blog hop consists of twenty squares, each designed by a different talented crochet designer. These squares are going to make up one gorgeous blanket, and the best part is that the squares are available for free on each designer’s blog!

This exciting event (running from April 1st to 21st 2023) is the perfect opportunity for crocheters of all skill levels to showcase their talent and creativity. Just imagine snuggling up under your finished Here Comes Treble Blanket, feeling cosy and warm.

Each square of the Here Comes Treble Blanket is made from a solid color, which allows the unique motif to stand out. And when all the squares are joined and a border is added, the final result is a stunning and timeless piece that you'll be proud to use or gift.

So, how do you get the whole ‘Here Comes Treble Blanket’ pattern?

When you crochet you Slalom square you might find this video tutorial helpful!

Blocking your crochet squares before joining them together can make a huge difference in the overall appearance of your finished blanket. By blocking your squares, you can help to ensure that each one maintains its proper shape, has cleaner edges, and looks its absolute best once it's all pieced together.

While there are many different methods of blocking, I personally like to use a blocking mat (affiliate link to Amazon) and stainless steel pins (affiliate link to Amazon), spraying each square with water and then allowing it to dry completely. This method is easy, effective, and can really help to elevate the final look of your finished blanket. So if you want your project to look its best, be sure to take the time to block your squares before you start joining them together!

Once you have crocheted your #slalomsquare, we invite you to come and share it inside the Elimee Designs pattern group on Facebook! We’d love to see what colour scheme you have chosen and be inspired by you 😀.

Below you will find the roundup post to locate the other nineteen squares from the ‘Here Comes Treble Blanket’ OR purchase the pattern bundle to get all twenty in one go.

FYI - the pattern bundle will be available even after the crochet along blog hop ends. Simply click the button below.
