Butterflies play a crucial role in pollination. As they feed on nectar, they inadvertently transfer pollen from one flower to another, aiding in the fertilisation process.
Some species of butterflies, such as the Common Buckeye, have the ability to see infrared light. This allows them to locate flowers and other food sources more easily.
Many butterflies have evolved to mimic the appearance of toxic or unpalatable species. This mimicry acts as protection against predators, as they mistake the harmless butterflies for their toxic counterparts.
