When my daughter asked me for a Christmas blanket this year, I couldn’t help but design a crochet pattern for her. You can’t say no to your kids, right?! I’m a huge fan of Christmas, so was grateful for the excuse because I find myself feeling all cheery and festive for months in advance. I love planning how i’m going to make the big day as special as possible for my girls.

I can’t wait to snuggle up all cosy and warm under my Festive Hygge Blankets (I have two girls – soon to be three – so have made two blanket so far) with my girls, watching a cheesy Christmas movie, and with cups of hot chocolate with marshmallows all round of course!

This festive afghan is a C2C (corner-to-corner) based crochet pattern featuring 15 motifs, of my favourite Christmas things, for you to choose from so that you can make your blanket completely unique.

If you love this pattern, you’ll love our new Festive Hygge Cushion patterns too. These cushion designs were inspired by the Festive Hygge Blanket and are being released as a crochet along on November 6th 2023! Click the photo below for more info.

I chose to make my festive throws using a blue and white colour scheme. I was tempted by the more traditional red, however I’m trying to shrink my stash before baby bump arrives as my crafting room is being converted back into a nursery (babies always seem to have so much stuff!). When I had a rummage through my stash I found lots of Stylecraft Special DK in midnight blue (left over from my Heavenly Hugs Baby Blanket) and felt that it would pair well with white. Admittedly I did purchase a little extra yarn in order to give them a bit of sparkle - my girls love sparkle! I used J C Brett Twinkle Yarn in silver – with 20% off courtesy of the Blue Light Card discount that LoveCrafts offer.

Below you can also see some of the beautiful versions made by our testers – Glenda Herbert, Jayde Hartwell and Vijetha Kodialbail. What colour will you make yours?

Glenda used a mixture of J C Brett Twinkle Yarn in white and Stylecraft Special DK.

Jayde used J C Brett Top Value DK Yarn and So Crafty DK.

Vijetha used Oswal 4 Ply Knit Plus Yarn.
