The So Eggstra Blanket

Our beautiful Easter egg-themed blanket crochet pattern makes an adorable baby blanket - perfect for gifting at your next baby shower 😊. This baby-sized afghan will keep your gorgeous bundle of joy feeling safe and warm.

This pattern was the last Elimee Designs pattern that I managed to crochet before the wee Miss arrived. I knew that colourwork would be challenging to manage with both a baby resting on me and a sleep-deprived brain lol. I loved crocheting this pattern because it allowed me to combine two of my favourite crochet techniques - filet crochet and colourwork.

My childhood memories inspired this Easter design. Some of my family live in Germany. I have many fond memories of visiting them and decorating boiled eggs prior to the family’s Easter celebrations. Oma (my great-grandmother) would boil vast quantities of eggs. The extended family would then all sit around her kitchen table and use various dyes and paints to decorate the eggs. On Easter Sunday all of the children would then hunt for the eggs in the communal garden. It was always a fun event… and It didn’t hurt that we’d also be gifted little wicker baskets full of Easter treats too!

Once I finished designing this crochet pattern I had no idea what to name it. Fortunately, a good excuse for a giveaway arose and my lovely followers provided me with some excellent suggestions. The winning name of ‘So Eggstra’ was thought up by @hollands.creations - thank you!
